The hotline is open 24 hours a day. The professionals who answer the line care about your safety.

They can help you:

· Learn about available services

· Think through your options

· Find temporary shelter

· Hotline Advocates answer every call and provide assistance in both English and Spanish. Hotline Advocates also have access to translators in 139 languages .

DOMESTIC VIOLENCE SHELTERS

The National Domestic Violence Hotline provides information and can refer callers to local services through a comprehensive database of resources. This includes Domestic Violence Shelters.

These shelters offer many services to domestic violence victims, including:

· Temporary emergency shelter for victims and their children

· Transportation to shelters, with law enforcement back-up

· Counseling - individually and in groups

· Referrals to legal, medical, financial, child care and employment services

· Children’s programs to help school age children

· Food, clothing and household articles to help set up a new household

· Drop-in centers for victims who need support services
